I have a toshiba satellite A-105 laptop with xp service pack 3 and 320mb hd. Recently i upgraded my ram from 1mb to 2mb. Now the RAM gets really hot and programs start shuting down after a half hour or so. Sometimes the screen just goes black but the computer stays on. I have to shut it off maually to get it back running. The CPU is very cool and fan works. It does work fine tho if i keep the panel open and a fan on the RAM.

Any help would be perfect thanks

is it possible i bought a bad one. It did work fine for a month or so.

Thanks

Are you allowing space for the RAM bay to cool off? Laptops are known for their built up heat when lain on beds/sofas/laps. The simplest way to check if it is the RAM is to put the old RAM back in and see if it overheats. It could just be coincidental and something else may be overheating such as your GPU. They tend to get VERY hot.
