RAM messed up!!!!!

I currently have an emachines (i know its not the best brand in the world) T6212. It came with 512 MB installed. 2x 256MB. Then I installed a 512 1x. And it only showd up as 768 total, but i was like w.e it must be the ram. Today though i installed a 1gig 1x and it only shows total system memory as 1.0 gig now. It seems as every single stick shows as 256mb. When i opened the case i noticed that the two ram sticks that came with the comp were in blue slots and the two left over slots were black. Maybe this is a problem? Please help this is driving me crazy. I should have a total of 2gig. I called Emachines tech support but they know as much as a 10 year old (and not a genius 10 year old either ).

Maybe your system can only support 1GB max?

Switch them around and see what happens! Nothing left but to try.

Actually it is a pretty good comp for upgrading according to many many reviews. It also holds 4gb max not 1.

Are your new RAM modules all the same type? Run at the same speed?
