Radeon vs Nvidia

Okay. I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but I have two choices between graphics cards and I can't decide. I come to you all with my dilemma hoping someone will help.

They are very very closely matched cards in terms of performance from what I can see, so following my logical trail of thought:

Performance
Price
Favouritisms

You can decide, either one will be as good as the other and the 7870 is a tad cheaper, but if you tend to have a preference towards NVidia then that wouldn't be a bad choice either.
