Question about ram for overclocking

If you keep your ram at higher latency, will you be able to squeeze more mhz out of the fsb? Is it absolutely necessary to decrease the latency if your going to increase the fsb on the ram? How much of a performance dip will you experience if you don't decrease the latency when overclocking your cpu?

Latency is stability oriented over bandwidth oriented. Quite simply put you can't increase the FSB speed with a 1:1 ratio without loosening timings, even if tighter timings did yield better bandwidth (which they really don't)
