Hey all,

I'm currently considering upgrading my computer. ATM i have an athlon xp 3200 (2.19ghz)

Most of these new processors are clocked under 2.19ghz, and all but the extreams are below 3.2ghz.

I know the technology is a lot different, and being dual core but what about the change in performace? If i lose a Few GHZ off my clock, would that come out in games?

Also, i understand a game using dual core would give much better performance, but as it stands most games do not.

Cheers.

Most of them are around 2.4GHz... plus they will all easily overclock to make up the difference.

Dual core processors are generally better, but the software needs to know how to take advantage of them. The software has to be multithreaded. With most games right now they don't take advantage of dual cores, but soon in the future they will.
