I have an old computer my dad wants to me fix. the usb and the ps2 dont recognize the mouse when i plug it in. i havent had to chance to really look at it but any ideas?

its 6 years old its been through somehwat alot in moving it. yes as far as i no the motherboard software has been installed

With it being that old Could it be that the IRQ is taken by another componet thus not allowing the mouse to work?

Are you using a PS/2 to USB converter (or visa versa?)? It may be that component. Also, what version of Windows? 6 years old would put it anywhere in the Windows 98-ME/2000 erra.
