Possible Comp Rig

Okay so I'm a semi-gamer, like it doesn't rule my life but I play when I have time. I am think of building a new comp rig cuz my Mac I know right a mac psssh, can't support crap even w/ boot camp, and my PC ohhhh my PC. The things at least 10yrs old and barely turns on let alone supports something like Crysis. So anyway, I have a few rigs lined up please give feedback and don't shun me to hard.

I would get a different GPU, skip the sound card and choose a different motherboard that isn't microATX.

Ok so took out the sound card and replaced the GPU and Motherboard w/
- XFX PVT95GYALG GeForce 9500 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
-ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 LGA 775 VIA PT880 Pro/PT880 Ultra ATX Intel Motherboard
The only thing is, is that im not sure if it supports SLI

You can do waaaaaaay better than a PT880 chip set. My old P4 MSI board has a PT880 chip set. Look for something that is more state of the art.

I take it this is a serious budget rig? I added everything up in the Newegg basket and it came to $475. Let's just say your budget is $500 to make it a nice round number.

First off, there's good news, you can build something pretty decent nowadays for $500. You're not going to max out Crysis at 2560x1600, but you'll have it playing pretty smoothly on your average sized screen.
What is your monitor's native res exactly?

And drop the sound card, it has no place in a $500 rig and you'll have to make do with the onboard sound for the time being.

Anyway, here's what I picked out for you:

CPU: Athlon 64 X2 5200+
Motherboard: 780G
RAM: 2x2GB DDR2 800
GPU: HD 4830 (will massacre the 9400GT)
PSU: OCZ 500W
HDD: WD 160GB
Case: CM Elite 330

Total: $371

A left a bit of the budget just in case you are overclocking. If you are not, you do not need any more than these parts. If you are, I would advise you go with the 5400+ Black Edition, a Xigmatek HDT-S963 and some Arctic Cooling MX-2 paste.

Definitely go with Vista 64 bit. There's really nothing wrong with it as 99% of users here will tell you. It's mostly got a bad name from people who don't know WTF they're talking about.

You're right, I forgot about the 7750, it's a great buy for only $65.
