PDA issues.

I have a PDA right and its a Compaq Pockte PC H3950 and I have been having it for a long time. One day I was downloading some stuff on my PDA and it froze so I pressed the SOft reset button like 5 times. so after is would go to the screen where it says Compaq at the bottom and IPAQ at the top and it would not change the screen or hold the charge for the unit so I say its the battery. Well I call Compaq and they say that I might need to turn it in for 50$ and let them see what the problem is all about. Well I wanted to know how can I fix this problem without involving Compaq.

Sounds like system files are missing, or corrupt. Do you have the necessary software and cables to connect it to your computer?
