Hi,
I am having trouble with an Everex PC. Nothing was changed as far as I know, but the BIOS POST just freezes before it gets to booting. This is the message it shows:
AWARD BIOS V4.51PG
V VAC43
P3 800E MHZ
AWARD PNP BIOS EXT 1.A
TREND CHIPAWAY VIRUS(R) ON GUARD VER 1.64A
BIOS GUARDIAN(R) ENABLED. YOU WILL NEED TO DISABLE BIOS GUARDIAN TO UPDATE BIOS.
CTRL+C TO ENTER CLOCK SETTINGS SUB-MENU.
CTRL+P TO LOAD PERFORMANCE DEFAULT SETTINGS AND RESTART.
CTRL+F TO LOAD FAIL-SAFE DEFAULT SETTINGS AND RESTART.
WHEN UDMA CABLE IN BIOS SETUP ITEM SET TO 80 PIN, YOU MUST USE 80 CONDUCTOR CABLE
SUGGESTED SDRAM CAS LATENCY TIME IS "2"
PRESS DEL TO ENTER SETUP, ALT+F2 TO ENTER AWDFLASH
The HD has an 80pin cable, so that's OK, no one has tried to update the BIOS (could a virus be trying to change the BIOS?), and there is no CAS Latency Time setting anywhere in the BIOS.
Once this message shows up (which only happens after I press the TAB key just in time to disable the Everex screen), the PC won't react to anything, not even CTRL-ALT-DEL.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
