My PC is running with a main partition, which is the C-drive and a backup partition, call it partition E. I want to do a backup using an external HDD instead of creating another backup partition. Now, i am thinking of wiping out partition E but that got me thinking twice. I have had experience where i'd unknowingly wiped out a booting partition and yeah, obviously rendering the PC unbootable later. I am more conscious when dealing with partitions now. My question is how can i know whether a partition is required for booting? Ok, obviously the C-drive is, how about the rest? I have seen PC with up to 5 partitions, are all of them booting partitions? Also, what does it mean when a partition is marked active? By the way, partition E is a logical drive.
