P4 530 vs 650

Is there much diff between:

Pentium 4 HT 530 - 3.0GHz, 1MB L2, 800MHz FSB

and

Pentium 4 HT 650 - 3.4GHz, 2MB L2, 800MHz FSB?

my PC is 3 years old and is undergoing upgrade. I was wondering if getting a P4-650 (as listed above) would resolve the bottleneck i currently experience with my P4-530.

Are you sure it's your processor bottlenecking it?? I wouldn't think it would be.

It would be a decent upgrade, but you might want to go with a new Core 2 Duo processor.

my motherboard only supports P4 HT's highest - its from 2004

Maybe, this (http://www.smartratings.com/review/computers/processors/903) will help you make up your mind whether to proceed to change your processor to P4 650 or not. It has a few expert reviews and a handful of user as well that you can browse over. Hope this helps.

Though I have never seen neither processor, I would go with the 650. It has better specs. Read what doleac posted too.
