P2P-Worm.Win32.Krepper.c

I got this off a p2p program, and now it makes dozens of "cracks" (not really) in the following folders:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations
C:\Documents and Settins\me\Shared
C:\Program Files\Limewire\Shared
C:\WINDOWS\ime\shared
C:WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download

Each exe file it makes is 22 kb, and they come back after I delete them.

I found registry values for "sndcfg16.exe" when I searched...

Heres some pages with info about the worm.

http://www.luckysworld.com/cgi-bin/...8_Virus_Control&action=display&num=1094977165

http://www.iamnotageek.com/a/sndconfg16.exe.php

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.ircbot.html

http://www.viruslist.com/en/viruses/encyclopedia?virusid=60616

I would REALLY appreciate any help or info about how to remove this worm... its a pain.

thanks in advance,

fish.

NO.. Run hijackthis...do a scan..then checkmark those entrys to be fixed.

DO NOT remove this one...

O20 - Winlogon Notify: WB - C:\PROGRA~1\Stardock\OBJECT~1\WINDOW~1\fastload.dll unknown process

otherwise Windowblinds will not load correctly.

Hijackthis wasn't displaying the option to delete checked items, and wasn't showing any items at all, so I downloaded Avast antivirus which got rid of the worm as well as all of the fake no cd / activation cracks.

Thanks for all of your help! Its really appreciated ~
