Overclocking a laptop

From what I understand overclocking is I was wondering if it would be practical to do it to a laptop.

Could somebody tell me if I'd be going wrong there?

ITs not that great for laptops for 2 reasons. 1st they are small and have poor cooling, which is bad for overclocking as it produces more heat.

2nd reason is most bios are locked down, so you would need to use software, which is unreliable.

+1 here.

Stock laptops get real toasty and even though they can withstand more heat than a regular CPU overclocking is not recommended at all.

I wouldn't recommend doing this. I tried with my old laptop GPU, and not only did it not make a huge difference, but the temperatures skyrocketed. You will probably burn it up :/
