I have diabetes, and I swear, the disease would be nothing, if it wasnt for my parents!! Anger causes my blood sugar to go up, and they make me angry daily about diabetes. Today, they took my keys, and than called me downstairs. They had this list of things I have to do now, if I want to keep the keys to my car. I have this continuous blood glucose monitor, that they dont trust results on, even tho I know that they are fairly accurate, and I have another 2 meters that I have to prick my fingers with, one for calibrating the continuous monitor and one for just anytime use, as the blood ones are slightly more accurate than the continuous. The calibrating one, is as bad as the continuous on accuracy, which is why I never use it to calibrate, but now I have too twice a day, and test everytime I eat a meal too, so a total of 3-5 tests per day, with the continuous thing. And I have to find software for the freestyle lite meter, and do all the downloading myself and everything.
They just dont understand, what its like to have diabetes, and than they make it so much harder!!!

I have a little plan that I will formulate with my doctor when I see him, I am going to talk to him about getting a second insulin pump for temporary, and some saline, and they will take turns wearing it for 2 weeks or so. I have plenty of bloodsugar meters they can use, they will have to test when I do, and refill the pump, do shots of saline for everymeal, everything like I do... They will probably hate it, but will have no choice if I can get the doctor in on it. And I shouldnt have a problem with that, as this was something recommended at the diabetes conference, so he will go along, I can't wait, only a couple weeks...

go luck, parents can be like that, but it seems like they are atleast doing it to protect ya.

Idk, I think I could do this on my own just as well. I'm the only one that really knows how to do it, and I understand the tech behind it a lot more too.

How/When did you develop diabetes?

is it type one or type two that you have? and 3-5 times a day? thats gunna make the end of your fingers really swore. that equals to about 4 picks on every finger which will mount up over a couple of weeks. sound to me its your parents that need to see the doctor the appear to be doing the parent thing and flipping out about it. get advise from the doctor/speicalist nurse and do what you are doing now.

remember that the best way to handle diabetes is through your diet and stay away from the specialized diabetes food like diabetic chocolate. ask any specialist and they will say they are actually worse for you
