I think through reading this article you can get a feel for what kind of company microsoft is. you can get this by the way the article describes the fact that microsoft has spent more effort in restricting the users abilities in order to maintain control over them.

just to be pedantic, that article quotes the law, but also says that you can photcopy news paper articles. -you can't the news papers (and magazines) own the rights to those articles.
