Not finding hard disk

I have a pavilion a720n using ide hard disk.
I changed it for a 500gb seagate barracuda 7200.12, but the computer doesn't find the hard disk.
Need some help asap

Or is it added?
Have you formatted?
Does the BIOS detect it?
Does Windows detect it?

try a different port(sata) and check the connections

The computer has 2 port, one white and one black
The hard drive is switched
Bios doesn't detect it, windows doesn't detect it either

wait, so you took out your original hard drive, and now windows doesn't detect this one, is that what you are saying?!

So you have another hard drive in there at the same time?

Also go to disk management and format it so it shows up. I just had to do that.

The orginal hard drive is an ide, it went out, so I bought a new one, and put this one.

And try the other sata port if you havent already.
