noob question but please answer

i have a very close friend who has a windows 2000 machine and is connected to a router (probally a firewall) and a cable modem. I would like to be able to go into his machine and lets say take a lets say text file and copy it too my machine (hypothetically speaking of coarse)(seriously) i want to do all of this just to say that i did it he would not care. i can have physical access to his machine if need be. if you can not tell me please PM!!!
