I'm new to this forum and to forums in general. I am at the end of my ability to solve this problem. I have read at least 100 posts and tried everthing imaginable. Can anyone help? I recently had some malware issues and ultimetely performed a repair re-installation of XP home on my desktop. I can't get XP to recognize the sound card. Device manager says it's there and working. No conflicts. I will attempt to attach a Lavalys report below. Most of what I tried so far:

Re-Installed the card using the original CD
Tried a different card from another computer known working
Tried the original card in another computer to verify it works OK
Tried to install card after repair install of XP before updating to SP3
Tried to install after updating to SP3
Tried moving PCI cards around
Disabled on board audio in BIOS
Verified Windows Audio started in services
Tried several different drivers from both Creative Labs and Dell
Re-installed the chipset drivers from Intel
Installed new CMOS battery

I'm sure I have done some other things but I'm so exhausted by this I can't recall everything. I am able to get some sound using the DirectX diagnostic utility. On the sound tab it fails saying there is no driver, but on the music tab when you select the Soundblaster music port it plays the sample. On the Microsoft synthesizer port it says no driver found.

Can anyone help?
