New rig ordered: Important Question about HDD..

Its a Zalman CNPS 9700 NT from Newegg for 59.99

And for the ram, the timing on the 6400 its 4-4-4-15
and the 8500 is 5-5-5-15....

What the heck does that mean? lol

The crucial has 4-4-4-12

OK you got the NT Zalman, four pin, so all is good ;)

Ram timings are the speeds, to get your ram operating in dual channel you'll need both sets running at the same timings, tighter timings (lower numbers) = faster data transfer, you mention 8500 again??? I thought you said all four sticks were 6400???

Anyway, you'll need to adjust the timings so all four sticks are running the same, you do this in the bios once you have the pc assembled.

hahah sorry for confusing you, ignore the 8500 i mentioned.

Now i'm looking for the Crucial Rebate from new egg.. i could've sworn it was up yesterday, i wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't valid still... i may need to return that crucial stick, i'm not paying $100 for it.

Good luck with the build, if you strike any problems just post a thread, that setup is pretty similar to Kage's one he just built and there are other helpful people here who can lend a hand if you get stuck.
