New PC?

I retired from the computer field about 7 years ago so now I don't know crap which really depresses me and hope to re-educate myself and in the mean time I have an Intel 6550 (Dual 2.33), Windows 7 (64), 4 Gigs of 6400 RAM, 4.8 on the Index, and thinking about building a new computer. If so I don't know if I should go with a Quad since it is a waste for today's software. Do I really need to upgrade to a newer computer?

A Core 2 Duo is still a nice CPU. You also have a good amount of memory. What are the complete specs/brands of your system? Maybe just a few upgrades will do you well.
