You know a while back I made a thread about building a system and wondering on specs?
Its going to be used for emulating/dance pad/rendering/ and well....everything else, so its going to be moved a bit around.

Well, I have the specs for it. Its as you can see by my spec in my sig, a lot more powerful, and should last me ages.
Plus, it'll be mine, since I'm paying for it, so finally, I'll have a PC to myself.

Anyway, these are the specs. I may change a few things if you think somethings better, etc :)

Powersupply: 600watt SilverPower model based on a Custom PC report (Can't find it yet)
Case: Antec 900 : About £60?
Motherboard: Abit motherboard IP35 Pro

CPU: Core 2 DUO E6600

Memory: Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC2 6400 2GB

Graphics: Geforce 8800GTS 320MB

Sound: Sound Blaster X-FI Extreme Music:

Hard Drive: 2x 320GB Baracuda SATA2: (I'll run in RAID 1)

DVD: NEC DVD Writer:

I need a monitor, so I'm thinking of a 19 inch 1280x1024 model, which I'll find soon, somewhere, along with the PSU, and the Antec case.

Without those, it comes to £706.73 Inc. vat, but will expect it to hit in the 800's when complete.

Any changes you'd make?

EDIT: I'm hoping to overclock the processor, as I know it can reach 3GHZ, so I'll aim for that if I can

Re: New PC build definite :D

That processor can easily hit 3Ghz, thats what I have mine on as my daily overclock, I've had it up to 3.9 without raising voltages. Also, you may want to consider the 640MB GTS if your going to be running games and stuff at a higher resolution.

Re: New PC build definite :D

Kewl :) What motherboard do you use? and memory?

I have chosen to get a 19inch 1280x1024 screen since with a high class video card, it'll therorectically last me longer, since I won't be playing at 1600x resoloutions, etc.

So in that case, would the 640MB version be worth it, for an added £60 on top?

I have found the case at Scan, but its not in stock at the moment:

Now, i'm to find a power supply, and I'm done.

Re: New PC build definite :D

Okay, so the 640mb version it is.

Is my motherboard okay? The reason why I picked it, is from reviews, it was capable of very high overclocks, but are any other boards better that you know of?

The RAM I chose for the same reason, as from Custom PC, it won the award for the best price vs features, and was very overclockable.

As you can see, I'm very indecisive, but I'm sure I'll love the PC once its complete :D

Re: New PC build definite :D

None of the links work for me..... connection always times out. all other sites are ok for me.

I'm not sure about the motherboard, but I have heard good things about that RAM.

Re: New PC build definite :D

I've heard that the current E6600 batch isn't doing too well as far as OCing. The E6420's have been doing good though.

Re: New PC build definite :D

The links seem to be down but yeah the build looks very nice indeed

Re: New PC build definite :D

Thanks :) Yeah... Microdirect has gone down... its never done that before... :(

Hmm... bad batches? Thats making me a bit wary...
Whats different about the E6420? In terms of clock speed and other things?

Any other motherboard you'd suggest for overclocking, SATA,RAID,DDR2 support Celegorm? :)
