New LCD monitor

My birthday is coming up, and my folks just bought this. I didn't really get a chance to think about it and pick one, so they ended up picking this one. It seems ok to me, what do you guys think?

This old CRT has been nice, but it's constant flickering of colors (damn pins are broken in the vga cable) are just too annoying.

My understanding is that smaller screen with a higher resolution = sharper, yes?

This one runs at 1680x1050.

i think thats correct ,
and thats a good monitor , i have an acer different model and size but its still a good monitor i would buy another acer if i ever wanted to dual monitor

On PC Advisor at least, it lists the spec at:
1440x900, and not 1680x1050 which the bigger 20inch models tend to have, but its still a 16:10 image ratio.
