New laptop.

So i've decided.. the alienware m17 'extreme gaming notebook' is the perfect laptop for me.
However.. I am not the best with computer specs.. And I thought i'd be rather lazy and ask the experts on here for some simple answers if it's not too much trouble :)
The laptop will be used for gaming mainly.. i would at least like to play wow on high settings with fairly good framerate ie. so that will very rarely lag.. and the same with Aion and a few more games that surely won't exceed the specs needed for aion.

the customize options are here
http://www.alienware.co.uk/configurator_pages/m17.aspx?SysCode=PC-EU-LT-M17&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT

What i'm really asking is what options should i choose to get the settings above i would like.

thanks for any replies :)

May I ask why you need a gaming notebook rather than a desktop? Desktop will give you way better bang for your buck.

I was recently thinking about a desktop but I don't want to get one made especially.. basically because i don't want it to look rough and messy.. I like the finished products of the mainstream brands..
Also I don't want a big ugly one with plates on it that i've seen around.
And on top of all that I don't have the room.. I'd have to buy a new desk for it as a desktop wouldn't fit onto the table i play my current laptop on.

Yes I am very fussy :p

I still recommend a desktop. Find room.

My desktop that I'm building cost me ~$1500 and is 10x the machine my $1200 laptop ever was.

Also, I can't wait for AION. I just sold my WoW acct :D

Haha yes Aion looks so good :) But i've gotta stick with the wow aswell <3
Thinking about it, I would consider a desktop if it's good enough.. But I just can't find a suitable one. Is there any you could recommend other than the giant plated towers/custom made ones?

What's wrong with custom made?

Is there a possibility you'd be willing to build it yourself? It's fun, not all that hard (just gotta be careful) and you get a *lot* more bang for your buck.

Also, don't go with Alienware imo. You're paying extra for the name & the case.

Well how the exterior looks is also important to me.. custom made tend to be metally and look un-finished from what i've seen.
And on the subject of building one myself.. i have no experience in anything like that.. my only knowledge comes from browsing around computer sales and review sites. So I don't think i'd be capable to do that.. Or at least it would take me a lot longer than i'd like.

Thanks for the advice though.. it is very helpful :)

Everybody at CF would be more than happy to help you through choosing parts and assembling them properly and safely if you choose to.

I personally care how the exterior looks myself as well, I got the Antec 1200 case for my new build, can't wait to see how it looks in person!

It's hard to mess up assembling a computer. If it doesn't fit in a slot, don't force it, its probably not the right slot. Other than that, static electricity is your only real danger.

I don't exactly know what you are talking about with the cases. Could you give an example of a case that looks metal-ly and unfinished? So I can sway you away with a build without that type of case.

Well I've found some good looking desktops.. but I really need help with the spec smilar to how i did in my first post..
I pretty much don;t have a clue what configurations to choose..

the proccess starts http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/index.php?page=pcsystembuilder

I don't have a clue what to choose from:
- crossfire gaming comp or sli gaming comp
- If sli gaming comp.. DDR2 or DDR3?

The pretty much everything on the next screen i wouldn't know what to decide on... I know what good, but I don't know what would work together and I wouldnt want to order a computer thats got 1 wrong feature. The price isn't really a concern to me.. anything under £1000 is fine which it almost always seems to come to on that site.
Sorry for asking so much.

Edit: Also.. I'll be selecting the option for it to have wireless so i can put it anywhere in the house. I already have a up and running wireless connection. But I need to know apart from selecting the option oto include the wireless card.. do i need to get the internal modem aswell? I have no clue about these things.
