Hey everyone,
Just landed a new IT support job (no IT background though but I want to make it a career) in a small business. What are some things I should start thinking about?
For example; I was introduced to the server room and my boss doesn't know what anything does or why (neither do I) and there's a lot of cabling. My gut is telling me I should make a networking topology map and label all the cabling. I think I should also get every single MAC address for our computers and printers and what not (not sure how to do this either).
Also, I'm thinking it would be prudent to make an inventory of EVERYTHING. What do you think? Should I also label the monitors and towers at everybody's desk?
