NEW HD help and mainboard help

Ok
as some of you know i am building a PC, I have everything but the HD, I should get the Hd today via UPS. I was looking at the Manuel and it says that i have to go into the Bios and set it to Raid, OR Ide. What one do i want?

Also

In the manuel I got a cd, It says MAINBOARD. After i connect the Hd check all the cables start the pc for the first time do i put the cd in the Cd-rom drive? and it will load. What should i do first load Xp Or the mainboard cd. Thanks

Raid is if you are using it as a server and not really as a computer, sortof like the entire computer as one HD rather than an actual full-functioning computer. I am guessing from your description that you desire an IDE. I have no clue on your second question sometimes its specific to the Motherboard (not mainboard).
