Hey, guys. I haven't been around much these days with school and band taking up much of my life. Now that band is over, I should be back more often :)

Anyway, I need your opinions on something. I am getting a new hard drive this Christmas, if not sooner. My 250GB is just not enough anymore, I'm down to 80GB left and I don't want to push it anymore.

I'm split between these two drives:

This is what I was looking at first: Western Digital Caviar 1TB SATA drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284 - 119.99 USD

Then this came out: Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB SATA drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148337
- 119.99 USD

So, now I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I have used Western Digital hard drives all my life, and have heard many times from many people that WD is superior over Seagate, but now I don't know what to believe. I could really use the extra 500GB of space. I'm leaning more and more towards the Seagate, but I don't want a drive that will be DOA, or even worse, fail on me a few weeks later.

Thanks!

I would say go with the WD. I usually go with WD and I decided to get a Seagate for my webserver and low and behold after about a month and a half it started clicking. I have really lost my faith in Seagate as this isn't the first drive I have had issues with from Seagate,

I've used both Seagate and WD drives and really don't have a preference for one over the other. They are both good manufacturers and you really can't go wrong with either choice. I say, if you want the extra 500GB, get the Seagate drive, it's the same price as the WD with less space. It's the better deal IMO.
