New enthusiast Intel System

Hello, i have offically got my new i7 system up and running about two weeks ago with some spare parts. I am looking for some advice on new video cards, PSU's, and a case. Here is what i am thinking of getting:

Im not sure if that power supply will be enough watt for what i am looking to go, the other one i was looking at was a 1000W PSU, probably the Cooler Master one on newegg for $209.99. Main thing i am looking for is a modular PSU.

I am looking for my best bang for my buck and on toms hardware chart these are higher than two GTX 260 216SP SLI'ed and if i would spend 50ish more bucks, i could get two XFX Radeon 4870 and crossfire those, again according to toms hardware chart that is the best bang for my buck. Any ideas on cards post here also, not looking to spend more thant 350 on the video card part.

I have always liked the antec 1200, looking for a full tower case so when i switch over to water cooling it should be easy, plus how big some cards are geting it would give me some more room to move around in, also a big fan of modding. Any ideas for a nicer one for what i am looking to do?



Current System Specs;

Proc: Intel Core I7 920
MoBo: DX58SO
RAM: G.Skill 6GB DDR3 1333
HDD: 500GB seagate, 320GB segate
Optical: (2) dvd burner sata
Video: 8800GT
PSU: Generic 600W (was free)
Case: Cooler Master, not sure of model type, got it free from work.


So yeah basically im looking at making a top end gaming system. I know the proc is not the top end core I7 but i got it for a good price. Also next year i will be possible getting a water cooling system setup so need a case that would be ready for that.

That should be plenty of power. As for the water cooling, I see absolutely no need for it unless you're going to be doing extreme overclocking, which is pointless.

this is an awsome case, motherboard gets rotated on the inside 90 degrees so that the I/O shield is on top.

That would be plenty of power for now, but if he's upgrading it to a top-of-the-line gaming rig, he should definitely upgrade.

I have the CORSAIR TX850W and I love it. It's not modular though so make sure you have a good case with good wire management.

yea i think corsair also just released the 1000W version.

yea i do like overclocking but also i like the look of water cooling system, i like to sit in awe over the looks of the computer along with the specs, etc

You can't crossfire ATI cards on an Intel motherboard.

If you want multiple videocards you'll have to go NVidia and SLI.


The Antec 1200 is a great case. I love it.

Actually, you can. It doesn't matter who makes the motherboard, it depends on the chipset. This motherboard supports Crossfire and SLI. It does say in BenchmarkReviews it only supports Crossfire, but that make be a mistake.
