And I'd definitely go with the second rig, the price isn't much higher and u are definitely getting better parts.

Well, this rig is prebuilt, for any changes I'll have to pay extra.
640GB is pretty much same as 500GB anyway, 1TB is different though.

320GB x2 in Raid 0 will give you almost the same performance as a 150GB WD Raptor. Trust me, the extra space and speed is worth it. And how is the 640GB and 500GB almost the same thing? you get 140GB more space.
