This is my first build. I'm posting so I can get some feedback from people who know more than I do ( everyone! ). I have 2 builds, AMD and Intel, final price is about the same.

What am I missing, should I change anything, is everything compatible?

Thx for the help!

Here is the part list, link leads to newegg page.

Thoughts?

I'm sorry but I fail to see how an i7 Quadcore at 2.8 Ghz is faster than a AMD Hex core at 3.2 Ghz. The only difference in cache is the L3 which is further away from the chip anyway and the AMD has a 512k L2 cache... Am I missing something?

Take a look at the GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R or ASUS P6X58D-E. Much better mobo's than the Foxconn and to be honest the only mobo's worth considering for an i7 set up at the moment.

I seriously respect AMD's Phenom X6 1090T BE and in very heavily multi-threaded applications it just pips the i7 930; overclock both and the i7 930 overtakes it, but the CPU is based on old AMD architecture and this is why it cannot compete with the i7 930's modern Nehalem mixture. Subsequently the i7 930 beats it in the majority of tests.

Put simply, clock for clock the i7 930 is faster.
