The "localhost" is......

Answer: b. A special name used to identify the local machine using IP address 127.0.0.1

Hmmmm......actually.....none of the above

glad to see the quizes still going jaksback!

In computing the term localhost refers to the location of the currently used system. It is a loopback device which is assigned the IP address 127.0.0.1, which can be used by TCP/IP applications to talk to themselves if this is needed. (wikipedia)

hehe...i know what a localhost address is man.... ;)
but before the quiz choices were edited... ( :p ) the localhost was at "127.0.0.0" and not "127.0.0.1".....thats what i was referring to...... i knew it was a typo.....just given you crap :)

thanks a bunch for taken these quizzes over for me!! :)

special name? you could be more specific by saying that its a hosts file entry. Take it out of the hosts file and it doesn't exist anymore.

right....call it csamuels 127.0.0.1 in a hosts file and then use a ping csamuels command and it'll return results (provided that your adapter is functional..... ;) )
