Network file delay/disconnect?

Have a s 5 computer network, Win2k server, XP Pro Clients. Excel files are stored on a mapped network drive. When opened by Excel, frequently, when you go to save the file, it takes like 3 minutes. It is like Excel 'forgot' where the file goes. Other times it saves normally.

Bring up the device manager. Find your NIC and click on properties. There should be a tab detailing your power management settings. Make sure the NIC on the computer you're using and the computer that has the file does not have any kind of sleep mode enabled.
