Need some help with my harddrive

hey guys i got a 40gb Wester Digital to add to my comp and for some reason it doesnt work I've tried a few things slaved and master I aint sure if it wont copperate with my other HD or something I have a 80GB harddrive Seagate alrdy on my comp so.. if you have any suggestions please help

western digitals are known to crash. lots are DOA.

please try all your jumpers and make sure that they are on teh right IDE channel

Well, how are you trying to connect the two? Using RAID?

Umm.. just the regular cords that are in there the 1 that comes from the motherboard and the 1 from the powersource

Anyway, western digital's are VERY picky about jumper settings. I guess you have both drives on the same cable? If so, make sure the seagate is set to master(master with a slave if there's that option) and the WD to slave. If the WD is solo, you could just remove the jumper.

read the manual. it shows all the jumper settings for your hard drive.
