Hello computerforums! having read over these forums for a while now i've deided it's time to post, and also because the time to upgrade is upon me.

Now i plan on building a serious gaming PC that will handle any new games (battlefield 3, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 2 and so on). Now my budget is $2000 AUD for the tower alone. Here is what I have come up with:

Intel Core i7-950 3.06Ghz LGA1366 CPU - $308
ASUS P6X58D-E X58 LGA1366 USB3 DDR3 - $239
Patriot Viper-Sector7 12GB Kit(4Gx3) DDR3 1600 - $219
Kingston 2.5" 128GB SATA2 SSD HDD - $239
Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 2TB SATA3 64M HDD - $105
CoolerMaster HAF 922 Gaming tower - $128
800W PSU - $195
Inno3D 1536M GTX580 PCI-E VGA Card - $555

Total comes too $1,988. Me and my friend are gonna buy the same computer so maybe we can save some cash buying 2 of everything, but does this setup look good? is it worth my money? Or if you had similar budget what would you do?

Any help / criticism / comments are appreciated as i plan on ordering parts within a week, but really wanna get this right! Thanks in advance :D

I personally would go for the new i5 2500k Sandybridge processors and boards, to save a little, and also probably go for 8GB instead of 12GB, but if you want a monster, thats fair enough - your build is pretty nice, and if you dont mind spending the money, thats fine.

Perhaps look at the Western Digital Black HDD's as they are nice and speedy, and pretty reliable :)
