need advice for a upgraded PSU

for powering a intake fan what are the wires referred to as?

edit how much power do the following use.
1.wireless mouse and keybroad.
2.wireless adaptor.
3.extrenal 1TB HDD (it is plugged into wall AC outlet)

Thanks STB

The fan either connects to the motherboard or a 4 pin plug on the PSU.

The wireless mouse and keyboard will draw no power as they are powered by batteries. The only thing that would draw power is the receiver, which is very little.

A wireless adapter would also draw very little power.

The external hard drive relies on its own power source so it would draw no power.

Things that you should be concerned with in terms of drawing a lot of power and choosing the right PSU are:

  • The CPU
  • If it's overclocked
  • Graphics card
  • Internal mechanical hard drives

I recently installed a new storage HDD however it did'nt have mounting screws

so I cruised by the Mom Pop computer store for some screws I also wanted a SATA cable the first cable he came up w/ he wanted $4.99 I was gonna give the $4.99 because he was throwing in the 4 screws.

I then told him I needed a 90 degree at one end he then said $9.99 I said let think about it while I was thinking I asked a few ?s

this guy told me that a wireless mouse and keybroad uses 15 watts then he told me any USB device plugged in uses 15 watts.

I knew I was'nt giving $9.99 for a $1. SATA cable now I know this Guy and his store is a joke however I had the screws in my pocket he said there where free.

BTW I ended up just installing new drive in the front removable tray.

Thanks Snap for advice
