I decided to hook up an old receiver I had in basement up to my computer. It's old but supports dolby digital and dts.
It's a Sony str-k740p, It only has the orange coax, no HDMI.
My mobo is an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 which says it supports 8 channel audio via the orange SPDIF bla bla bla.....
Running windows 7 64
When I play Dead Space 2, which supports dolby digital, I only get 2.1 sound. I set the sound options in game to 5.1. I also went into the control panel and set "SPDIF Interface" to default.
I even downloaded soundMAX from the ASUS website but when I choose SPDIF interface it only shows stereo and 5.1 is not an option.
What gives? How can I get true 5.1 out of my Computer?
