my network setup

basically im at uni and want wireless, so i can mess about with my archos online.
i cant plug a router into the network, so i was hoping i could connect to the network on my laptop via ethernet, connect to the router via wireless, and somehow enable the router to use the laptops internet connection. would that be possible? dont suggest ad hoc, that doesnt work on the archos lol
im sure there must be a way, i just cant figure it out.

Most academic/residential networks can catch that sort of thing and kick you off anyway. It's not worth it.

You'd need the router plugged straight into the wall to do that and the laptop plugged into it.

are you sure?
i dont see what they can do if the routers using the laptops internet connection.
ive realised this seems very hard to do though
basically my archos mp3 player cannot connect to adhoc networks, so i want some other way to get internet on it.
