My problem is stated here:
http://techist.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111678
however I'll still copy/paste what i posted:

Virus severing internet connection?

Earlier today, the second computer on my network got a virus. (I am typing this from pc1) After that infection, that computer (pc2) ceased to be able to reach the internet, but this computer has no problems. Both computers are connected to a router, which is connected to a modem, which is connected toComcast broadband cable.

Is it possible for a virus to block you from the internet?

Right now, the infected computer is in safe mode running avast, Avg and ad-adware scans. after that ill turn off both comptuers, unplug the modem and router and then plug them back in; and see if that works (but again, why would only one computer have problems )?

thanks

This is my log; it's possible there will be no problems with it, but i kinda doubt that.

Fuxy; two good (and free) spyware removers I use (and others might recommend) are ad-adware and search & destroy. Microsoft also has an antispyware program.

Reformatting your HD solves any software problem.

And yes; I still have the problem. On this computer im typign away online fine; but the second computer can't connect. and I HAVE done massive spyware/virus scans in safe mode and out.

and i dont have a problem w/ the physical connection, i checked that.

I need to add that I just discovered that i can access the internet fine using a Linux liveCD (Ubuntu); so I definatly have a windows problem.
