Mouse scroll wheels works intermittently mostly none functional

Windows7.

My mouse the Logitech Wireless Mouse - Red/Black which isn’t very old just over 1 year (there warrenty is 1 year) anyway previous mouse lasted ten times that.

Scroll wheel intermittently stops however I can press downward on wheel an scroll w/out rolling the wheel just bye relocating the pointer above or below the center of the 2 triangles farrer is faster.I hate this method I always overshoot.

I prefer to scroll.

Seams like the only tempuary fix is a couple shots of compressed air but this doesn’t last. Like I’ll switch websites or doc.s an she none functionale again.

I have tried to reconfigure mouse settings.where I moved buttons speed to fast, increased speed of # of lines at a time from default of 3 to 5 then 7 still no return of scroll I apply an OK then restart still no scroll wheel 100% of time.

Weird that sometimes she’ll start refunsioning all on her own then quit shortly after.

Currently reduced to cursor arrows.

Are the M525 made to disassemble an clean around the optical sensor?

Thanks for any tips on my mouse scroll wheel.

Those mouse wheels have spokes and as you scroll the wheel a sensor picks up that movement. When crap gets in there the sensor cannot "see" through those spokes to work. I have dogs so I have had to clean mine out several times. I'm sure you can find a you tube on how to properly disassemble and clean it out

Id try a different forum. Tech power up or toms hardware.. a staff member of this site suggested the same to me for a unrelated thread the couldn't help me with.

so strange a few days after posting she started scrolling again then hit a bad spot no scroll now back working. I've been blasting it w/ compressed air seams fine now thanks Guys for advising
