Monitor Keeps Shutting Off

Running windows ME. While working, monitor will just shut off. I have checked settings under "power options" and there is nothing set to have the monitor shut off. I thought it was the monitor itself and purchased a new flat panel. Still shuts off. This monitor will display a message stating that there is "no longer connected" after it shuts off.

Installed new video driver since the old monitor had "funky" colors.

After it shuts off, i still hear the tower "running". Ctrl/alt/delete does not work.

Have received this error message, but I do not know what it means:

VMM (01) + 0000DC96 Error:OE 0028: C000EC96

I have rebooted in Safe Mode over and over again to have Scandisk run. It states that hard drive errors have been repaired. Will run good for an hour or two, then starts over again with shutting off the monitor.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is it just shutting off randomly? Or only when Idle? And when do you receive the error message?

Just a thought:
Is your video card in a slot or integrate?
Also what times is it shutting off?

no the error message is for bad drivers just follow the instruction mate!

Your mistake is running Windows ME... :)

In all seriousness, find either your computer manufacturers site or the site of the company that produces your video card and find and download the drivers.
