Monitor fading white

My LCD monitor started fading white about three weeks ago. It's a 4 year old Dell monitor, so I figured that it was just dying. Whenever it fades white, all I have to do is turn the monitor off for a bit, and it eventually works again when I turn it on.

However, about a week ago, my video card broke. I won't go into details, but it was obvious that the chip had overheated. So I got a new one. Problem fixed, but I still get the fading white thing. BUT, get this. I plug it into my laptop, and so far, it hasn't faded at all. So it's possible that it has to do with my video card, but I just got a new video card. I don't think I'm having overheating problems, as all of my fans are still working same as they always were. Also, it has faded white after only a matter of seconds from start-up. I'm going to do some more troubleshooting, but in the meantime, anyone have an idea as to what this could be due to? Thanks.
