mobo/hard drive

so im building a computer.
i alreadly have a ide 40 gig hard drive and this motherboard im looking at has ultra ata and i dont know if these are compatible.

Yeah, it's compatible. The only compatability issues you have to worrk about is SATA. But you dont have SATA, so you are fine. Worrying whether or not your drive will support ATA or ULTRA-ATA or any of those is no longer a thing to worry about.
