Memory Vanish! 360S

Hello all!
Recently I discovered that the internal memory on my xbox 360 S 4GB disappeared!
It asked me to create a new profile so it looks that I've lost everything! Don't use live so I'll have to start from scratch!

But I was wondering is there anyway to get the memory unit to work again or is this a known glitch with the S? I've opened up the xbox (after much hardship!) and looked at the MB and located the memory unit itself. Would anybody know anything that could help me? All I've done is pull the board it's elevated on off and put it back on! :S

Any suggestions?

Thanks Carnage The thing is tho, the Xbox doesn't recognize there is a memory unit at all! It tells me to connect one! The Xbox did update itself from a new game I bought for it, so I might just factory reset everything to see if its software or hardware but I'll prob loose all chances of recovering any old data then!
