Media Player Nine?

I am about to put my records and tapes to CD. I have media player nine but, I was wondering if there are better media programs for this task. If possible I'd like to have something that would take away the scratch and hiss sounds that are inherent with analog media. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Last year i did the same thing with some old records, and i found a nice free program to use. try this.

first, do not use windows media player because it is made by microsoft and therefore is crap. GoldWave is a very basic and easy to use sound editing program. thers a 1 click thing to get rid of hiss and noise from old records, and it works good.
