since i seem to be having a lot of trouble with security, i had a thought. is it possible to make up a usb drive with an extremely difficult password on it, and use that (the usb drive as the master password) in my computers?

I've not heard of a usb device being used as a single factor for logging in to a service, but if you want more security you're along the lines of a FIDO security key. It works very similiar to what you're asking except it is used in addition to your existing username/passwords.

With something like the FIDO your normal single factor logins would become dual factor and because the usb key is something you own anyone on the internet wouldnt be able to login to your account unless they both knew your password and had your usb key.

Doesn't seem like many websites support it, though. They have guides on how to set up the key with Dropbox, Gmail, Facebook, and GitHub. There could be more, but those are the ones they list.
