Lost data on a slave Hard Drive?

I'm upgrading my computer. After the build, it was not booting and I had a tech look at it. I also had a new HD (WD sata III) with Win 7 installed and the old HD (WD sata) with Win Vista was put as slave. The tech said the old HD Windows files were damaged.

Now when I click on the old HD (slave) it says the files are empty. Of 931 GB, 931 GB are free. There appears to be nothing on the HD and that all my data is gone.
Questions:
- Why is nothing showing up on the slave old HD?
- Is the tech incorrect that damaged Windows files will cause the HD so it can not be accessed?
- Is there another way to see if there is still data on the old HD slave?

Thanks

Tech might hav been wrong, buy something like this;
HDD Dock
Plug it in via USB,
if you can access your data then you need to transfer your files to your new HDD - format the old one (deleting Windows Vista) then transfer you files back. Plug the HDD into the computer all should be good.
if you carnt access your data;
..................run some file recovery software on the drive.
.................if that don't work you drive is corrupt and you'll need to format it and see if it fixes your problem.

PS dont get your hopes up when something with an HDD isnt simple - is normally bad news :(
