Looking For a New CPU

I want to do a little upgrade on my desktop.

Its socket 939. I want to get maybe an X2 or something similar, but 939's are pretty much discontinued.

I don't wanna get a new mobo.

The fastest CPU still available at Newegg that will work on your motherboard is the AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 2.4GHz.

Otherwise you could search eBay.

You don't need to get a new Mobo. I'm watching a few CPU's at the moment for my next upgrade and you can still get new ones.

I'd go for an Opteron 165, Opteron 185 or XP 64 4800+.

The Opteron 165 runs @ 1800Mhz stock but it OC's to 2700Mhz and has 2 X 1MB Caches! This is slightly better than a stock FX 60 which is very expensive.

The Opteron 185 runs @ 2600Mhz and is great if you want the above performance without OC'ing but it'll cost more than the Opteron 165.

The XP 64 4800+ is a very fast CPU full stop.

I just want something cheap, maybe less than $100 that is dual-core.
