little help with parts...

Hey guys...hoping someone can help me out...

I got an old abit Nforce 939 mobo that bit the dust. Got 2 sata HDD's 1 sata dvd burner, and 2 IDE HDD's with a 7800GT Pci-E GPU and running an AMD 64 3500+ (to be exact AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 2.2GHz Socket 939 Single-Core Processor Model ADA3500BPBOX - Retail).

I need to either replace the mobo or get something (mobo/cpu/ddr2 memory) upgrade pretty cheap. Just looking to get this PC back up and running to pass down to my son as I'm saving for a i7 PC and any money I put into this one is coming off the amount for the new one...hence why I don't want to spend a bunch.

I found the below - but 1) don't know much about the Jetway mobo and 2) want to make sure all is OK with what I picked and 3) maybe get a recommendation on a better mobo without spending a lot more...

actually I think this ECS board is a little better. Only thing I've seen though is the manual says AM2+ but mentions nothing for just the AM2 CPU I picked. Anyone know for sure that it'll work?

Yeah I would definitely go with the 780G motherboard over that Jetway.

There is also a couple of ASUS boards on NEWEGG that are open box 780G's that are a few bux cheaper obviously cuz they are open box but they should be fine because they are tested before resale and if they are defective you can always return for a refund but they dont allow a replacement very often because they may not have any open box other than the one you ordered. It is all about whether or not you want to risk it with an open box item which I have never personally bought but many people I know have and have very rarely had a problem with them.

whats your budget and what will this pc be used for

My budget is basically what ya see there $180ish or below.

Will be used for some gaming for the kid...school work, etc. The PC currently was able to play everything that he wanted and could even play crysis and farcry2 - not great, but it worked, LOL!

Just wanna get this one back up and rolling for at least a year for the kid.

not taking any risk for open box, but thanks for the thought.
I think what I narrowed it down to is prolly the cheapest (with the decent ECS mobo). I didn't get why the ECS manual said everything about AM2+, but nothing about AM2, which is the cpu I picked out. Just wanted to make sure that it would all be compatible.

haha, thanks! I'll order those parts tomorrow then. Case will be an Antec 180 with Antec true power 550 and 7800GT.
Why doesn't it mention anyting about the AM2, and just the AM2+ in the manual though?! That's what was a little confusing to me.
