Liteon DVD Region Protection

Hello everyone!

I have a small problem; I bought a Liteon 16xDVD (LTD 163 GH5E) and have set the region to 2 (as I am located in the UK). In windows XP I ran Drive Region Info and it says ‘This Drive Has Region Protection’ and I can change it 4 more times. Now the problem is I have got a Region 1 DVD which I want to play and would Like to know what to do in order to watch the DVD?

I'm new to this, but could someone explain this region setting for DVD players/recorders? I am considering the Philips DVDR228. Thanks.

Well, whenever you buy a DVD it has a region code so you cant play DVD's that are not from the region you purchased it in. Like USA is region 1, Europe is Region 2, etc.

they do the region thing so they can charge what they want for dvd's in that region and not have people rushing off to asia and getting dirt cheap copies which loose the companies money.
