ok I have heard of linux the lecturer on course I'm doing at the mo mentioned it's good

but I know nothing about it is it a stand alone or is it run via windows

is it user friendly/ how is the virus protection?

is it available via the shops etc..


sorry if this subject has been done to death.... Im of to search the web for more info

I have a second hand laptop that is running xp and even before I connect it to the net I seem to be having problem from a previous installed program containing a sasser worm virus........

As to the virus attacks, no. Most of the idiots who write the viruses target windows as it is the most widely used O/S for maximum destruction.

Microsoft released a patch for this almost 2 years ago...

My crystal ball does not tell me if you have SP2 installed, if not go here and get it as it contains all of these patches...
