linux help

yo guys i put linux on my pc and i installed it and it comes up with loads of writing then it says
username:

password:
so i typed them in then it comes up with tihs
$
i can TYPE SOMET BUT IT SAYS INAVALID stuff like thats what is this how do i install linux without doing this crap can some one tell me a linux to get please of the web.

You need to log in as root and use the password that you set for root. As soon as you log in, you can create new acount. Root is the admin account for the linux system, has the power to do anything.

So log in as:

Username: root
Password: whatever you entered when you installed and they asked for root or main password.

If you don't have that password, I think you're screwed, and you'll probably have to reinstall.
